Nicholas Synge

Synge was educated at Trinity College, Dublin.〔"Alumni Dublinenses : a register of the students, graduates, professors and provosts of Trinity College in the University of Dublin (1593-1860)" Burtchaell, George Dames/Sadleir, Thomas Ulick (Eds) p798Dublin, Alex Thom and Co, 1935〕 He was Rector of Headford and Prebendary of Kilbeg from 1720 until 1731〔"Fasti Ecclesiae Hibernicae: The succession of the prelates Volume 4" Cotton,H. p35 Dublin, Hodges & Smith, 1848-1878〕 and Archdeacon of Tuam from 1731 until 1743.〔"Fasti Ecclesiae Hibernicae: The succession of the prelates Volume 4" Cotton,H. p29 Dublin, Hodges & Smith, 1848-1878〕 He was appointed Prebendary of Malahide in St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin in 1737〔"Fasti Ecclesiae Hibernicae: The succession of the prelates Volume 2" Cotton,H. p154 Dublin, Hodges & Smith, 1848-1878〕 and resigned in 1743 to become Archdeacon of Dublin.〔"Fasti Ecclesiae Hibernicae: The succession of the prelates Volume 2" Cotton,H. p131 Dublin, Hodges & Smith, 1848-1878〕 In 1745 he became Bishop of Killaloe〔"Fasti Ecclesiae Hibernicae: The succession of the prelates Volume 1" Cotton,H. p471 Dublin, Hodges & Smith, 1848-1878〕 and from 1752 Bishop of Killaloe and Kilfenora.
